May 16, Northern Tioga Neighbors Network Advisory Board meeting, 7 p.m., Hubbard Center, Bowery Lane, Richford, NY.

May 19,  Tire Collection Day, Town Highway Garage, (Rt. 79 east), 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Due to a limited amount of space available on  the collection truck,  tires will be collected on a first come, first serve basis until the truck is full!!!!!

The fees to help cover costs:

     17" or smaller (auto type):     $1.00               tires.jpeg

    
Auto tires, to 17"  w/rims, or truck tires
   
15 - 19" or without rims:   $3.00

   
20" and larger but, less than 100 lbs:   $6.00
 
    100 lbs. and larger   $6.00 + an additional  .05 per lb.
          (for example:   $7.25 for a 125 lb. tire).

May 19,  In Tioga County there will be paper/document shredding truck available at the Southern Tier Recycling, 352 Glenmary Dr. In Owego, N.Y. between the hours of 8am and 12 noon.   Any questions please call (607) 687-6710.  The shredding truck will also be available again on September 22, 2012.

POSITION:  LIBRARY DIRECTOR
The Berkshire Free Library, serving Berkshire and Richford in Northern Tioga County, NY is seeking a part time Library Director.  The Library Director is charged with the daily operations and oversees one part time Library Assistant and Cleaner.   The Director works with the Trustees to fulfill the policies, goals, and objectives set by the Trustees.  The Director also utilizes the services of the Finger Lakes Library System and interprets them to the public. 
Requirements:
•    At least two academic years of full-time study in an approved college or university, or its equivalent.
•    Computer skills and willing to learn new technologies.
•    Ability to evaluate collections including donations and weeding.
•    Interest in developing programs to meet community needs.
•    Prepare annual/quarterly/monthly reports as needed.
•    Attend meetings as required and participate in fundraising activities.
Salary based on 23 hours per week .   An Equal Opportunities Employer.

Notice Regarding Open Burning
In towns with a total population less than 20,000, you may burn tree limbs with attached leaves. The limbs must be less than 6 inches in diameter and 8 feet in length (also referred to as brush). However, this is not allowed from March 16 through May 14 due to the increased risk of wildfires.
